People in Indy are hungry. More hands are needed to help - come join us Thursday, 2/25, 7:45am-12:30pm to give food boxes to 800 families! Why

The food pantry of St. Vincent de Paul close to 30th and Keystone urgently needs volunteers to keep feeding the nearly 3,000 families they provide food to on a weekly basis via their COVID-friendly drive-thru operation and home delivery service.

Due to COVID, SVDP completely redesigned their normal "shopping" experience to operate as a drive-thru, making it more volunteer-intensive. The National Guard provided volunteer power for awhile early on in the pandemic, but now SVDP is having to source all volunteers themselves - this is where we come in!

Time Commitment - OK if you can't commit to the whole morning!

  • Please join us Thursday, April 29, from 7:45 am - 12:30 pm to help!

  • If you can only make it during some of those hours and not all, that's ok, please sign up and simply note the time range you're able to commit to being there!

What we'll be doing

Thursdays are a "shopping" day. This means we will be handing out the hundreds of food boxes that were packed on Wednesday to the hundreds of families waiting in their cars for the food.

Other Details and Logistics

  • Location - 3001 E 30th St, Indianapolis, IN 46218 (Food Distribution Center, Society of St. Vincent de Paul)

  • Arrival - There may be a long line of cars waiting to get in. Going East on 30th St., bypass the line and turn right at the driveway. Tell the security guard you are a volunteer. Make another right into the volunteer parking lot. Go up the ramp and come in through door #4, the volunteer entrance, sign in, and ask for Skip or Tonya who will get us started for the day. (Alternative parking is north of 30th St across from the pantry.)

  • Dress - Volunteers should dress comfortably and in layers. Open toe shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

  • COVID - Bring your own mask and plan on wearing it the entire time. Social distancing (in addition to masks) will be done as much as is possible.
